Hello! I am Madoka.

Thank you for coming on this page.

I am very happy to have this chance to inform you about Japan.

And I appreciate you for giving the opportunity of my English practice.

Today I will introduce on the New Yea Event in Japan,_ The Seven Deities of Good Fortune Tour.

We call it “Shichi Fuku Jin Meguri”.

1, What is “Shichi Fuku Jin Meguri” ?

It is The Seven Deities of Good Fortune Tour.

Shichi” is 7 in English..
Fuku” is Good Fortune.
Jin” is Deity .
Meguri” is tour.

This tour became popular from Edo era.
Japanese believes this tour bring us the best fortune.

We visit and pray in Temple or Shrine that these seven deities are enshrined.

There are many such a temple and shrine everywhere in Japan.

You should do by January7(Kanto are) or January 15(Kansai area).

Many Japanese enjoy this tour for good fortune, their health, relaxation and fun.

2, Introduction of “Shichi Fuku Jin

 

The member of The Seven Deities of Good Fortune are diversity.

 

Ebis
The god of success in business
His country of origin is Japan.

 

 

 

Fukurokuju
The god of wisdom, luck and longevity.
His country of origin is Japan.

 

 

 

Hotei
The god of happiness, contentment and good fortune.
His country of origin is China.

 

 

 

Juroujin
The god of longevity.
His country of origin is China.

 

 

 

Bishamonten
The God of war and victory
His country of origin is India.

 

 

 

Daikoku
The God of commerce, agriculture and prosperity
His country of origin is India.

 

 

 

Benzeiten
The Goddess of financial fortune, music and art.
Her country of origin is India.

 

 

 

On next article, I will introduce  “Shichi Fuku Jin Meguri ” in Kamakura.
